DESIGNER, PHOTOGRAPHER, MOTHER
ASPIRING CHILDREN’S BOOK AUTHOR
Big Ideas, Real Impact
ABOUT
Brittany has always lived at the intersection of "making." With a B.F.A. in Design as her foundation, her career has been a continuous thread of storytelling, woven through every new season of her life. When she transitioned to full-time motherhood in 2022, she found that creating in the “margins" of motherhood was more fulfilling than it had ever been, with her family as her new inspiration.
WHAT SETS US APART
From the soulful portraits captured through Ivy Lane Photography to the handcrafted playthings of her children’s brand, Ordinary Little Finds, Brittany’s work is defined by a single mission:
“Becoming an author wasn't a career shift for me; it was the next natural step. My writing is an extension of my life as a "Momtrepreneur," born from the hours of playing, teaching, and constantly creating.”
I first rediscovered my love of writing when I started this blog, Ordinary Little Finds, to offer encouragement and support to like-minded moms in their balance of motherhood and making home.
Inspiration found me again (as it often does) in unexpected places when I had the idea to write a book for my 4-year-old who dreams of being an Astronaut. Also in love with ice skating, I used her current interests to inspire resilience in trying hard things. When it was finished, I knew I wanted to see it published not just for my daughter, but for young girls everywhere. All of a sudden, I wrote another children’s story after hearing my husband say something at the dinner table. Then again, after listening to the sweet little song of a bird out of our apartment window that signaled morning when the rest of the house was quietly sleeping. It suddenly happened all around me, like something I couldn’t stop. So I rushed to write down every word that came suddenly before my day got too busy. And so begins my next dream…to be a children’s book author.
“Every work is a dedicated love letter to my daughters—and to the parents reading them.”
Brittany believes that a truly great book is a shared experience, designed to nourish the grown-up soul just as much as the child’s imagination. Whether she is encouraging her firstborn, Rin, to find resilience, or guiding a toddler through a playful introduction to the days of the week, Brittany writes for the "little listeners" and the weary, loving hearts of those holding the book.
From the boundary-less wonder of Virginia June By the Sea to the soothing rhythm of faith-based, Why All Creation Sings, all of Brittany's work can be described as rhythmic, loving stories that seek to capture the glory in the smallest details of creation. Through every story, she aims to bridge the gap between generations, ensuring that when the final page is turned, both parent and child feel seen, held, and deeply connected by the love pouring out of every word.
