We are Joey and Brittany Trayah - the husband + wife team who began Ordinary Little Finds

meet the trayahs

Joey is a hard-working mechanical engineer by day and tedious-loving, quick sewer by night. He loves his over-achieving, big-dreaming wife enough to embark on this new adventure together. Much to his wife's shock, he's the one who suggested they start a business.

Brittany is a designer, photographer, and all-around creative. She can't have two days go by without dreaming up another idea or business adventure (check out her photography biz at
@ivy.lane.photography on socials!), and she's so lucky to have her husband to ground her and bring her back to reality when needed. And it is needed often..

Together, they make a perfectly balanced team. They spend most of their time with their daughter, Rin, who was the inspiration that started it all (more on our story below). When she's off to bed, they love watching old movies and sewing side-by-side.

it all started when…

I had begged my husband to get a Cricut for years. He would always answer with the same decisive reply: “show me the ROI, and you can get one.” His analytic, engineering mind always needed a logical reason - which unfortunately is not my strong suit. I gave up on the idea of justifying the cost long before until one, random day…

Joey looked up from his phone and said “what if we get a Cricut?” to which I said an immediate yes, but then “why?”. He then said, “well I was thinking that maybe we could make and sell felt mobiles and the stuff you’re always making for Rin. Do you want to start a business?” Again, I replied with an immediate yes. What Joey didn’t know is that just days before, I had been stewing on the very same thought.

Over the summer, I had picked up a free play kitchen off the side of the road for Rin’s playroom. We started with no accessories or food, and a quick Etsy and Amazon search led me to the horrifying conclusion that play kitchen food and goods are *expensive*. While perusing Etsy, I kept seeing these gorgeous sets of felt food and just kept thinking “I could totally make this”. So I did.

Flash forward months later - now with a beautiful Cricut Maker and Singer Start sewing machine in our toolbelt - Ordinary Little Finds is starting small, and *very* slow. But we have big plans, and we can’t wait to share them all with you.

behind the blog

I’m Brittany. Daughter of Christ, wife of Joey, and mother to the most incredible human being - my daughter Rin. She lit the first fuse of inspiration when my husband and I decided to embark on this next (ad)venture in building a brand of bespoke play things.

This blog was born of another inspirited idea to inspire imagination and beautiful play in you and your child through home design ideas, mothering tips, and (of course) our beautiful little play things.
